Jesus Christ is our passover lamb. Its really interesting that the blood of the passover lamb was out on the lintel of the door and each side of the doorway. And inside, the passover lamb itself was eaten together with unleavened bread and other dishes, bitter herbs etc. Amazingly its so interesting how this so describes How, Our head and King, Jesus Christ has covered us by His blood, and He is the Doorway and gate also, and we are to eat His flesh and drink His blood. Which we do. We have come through him into the House Hold of Our God and Father who protects us from death. Inside we partake of the Flesh of the Lamb (Dying with Him on the cross) and drink His blood (entering the covenant ratified by His blood). At the same time, He is Our Shepherd and Head and The owner of the House is The Father whose will it is that we be saved. The doorway is closed to the world because of their unbelief much the same way, the unbelieving Egyptian’s tasted the wrath of God through the loss of their first born children. They did not believe that The God of Yisra’el would kill their first born. Following their blind guide (Pharaoh). But those who believed were saved, and God differentiated between the believing Jews and unbelieving Egyptian’s. The same is true for us, God has saved us from the wrath to come, and we shall be in His presence, in His Home when He pours out his wrath upon the unbelieving sons of rebellion. We are they who have partaken of the unleavened break, Jesus Christ who was perfect and without sin, the blemish-less lamb who was slain for our sins and through whom we have been cleansed and found righteous before God. The Life giving bread from Heaven who we partake in every day, believing in Him, abiding in Him and following Him, living by His Word and through His Spirit. So for us, The Spirit means life and liberation. To the unbelievers they shall taste wrath and death through unbelief and sin as God’s wrath still abides on them. Likewise if we look at what happened over Passover we will see, that because The believing Jews followed God’s way of obtaining liberation from Egypt and freedom from the plague that the Egyptians had to taste they were kept from the plague and saw liberation. As the Egyptians mourned, the believing Jews knew they redemption drew near. God through sending the destroyer that that brought death to the houses of the unbelieving, provided the means of liberation for the believing Jews. Likewise, we who have believed Jesus that He is the Son of God and the means of our salvation shall live as He has given us life everlasting. However the unbelieving shall taste His wrath of God.
He is the doorway, the gate, The Life, The Passover Lamb, The bread that came from Heaven. The unleavened bread that was broken for us. He saw the bitterness of death for us, shed His blood for us. He is Our salvation. For that reason He was named Jesus, for as it written He shall save His people from their sins. He has saved us through the blood of His cross. Being pierced for us. And we shall be saved from the wrath to come. We have been justified by His resurection from the dead which he did on the feast of first fruits, being the first born of those who rise from the dead.
